Transport & Logistics Training Package Update

Welcome to 2015. Some exciting developments have occurred in the Transport and Logistics Training Package. With all Training Packages now being aligned to the new standards, the continued process of engaging stakeholders in the validation process has provided valuable feedback on the qualifications and associated units of competency. Other projects have also gained momentum, ensuring that the TLI qualifications remain focussed on industry needs.

A number of meetings are being held this month to progress work in the Training and Logistics Training Package space:

  • The Driving Operations Steering Committee met on 28 January to finalise the review of the three Driving Operations qualifications (CIP 3.17). Members reviewed the feedback received from stakeholders regarding the qualifications and associated units of competency placed on the website for comment. As a result, a number of changes have been proposed for the three qualifications. The changes will be placed on the website shortly for final comment
  • The Driving Instruction Steering Committee met on 4 February to review the three3 Driving Instruction qualifications. The committee reviewed feedback received from stakeholders on the qualifications and associated units of competency placed on the website for comment.
  • A working group met on 5 February to look at the development of a training product for ‘Pallet control’. This issue was placed on the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP 2.4) to “scope the need to develop a unit of competency, skill set or qualification for Pallet Control”
  • The Dangerous Goods (DG) licence Technical Advisory Group (TAG) will meet on 10 February to review the reworked unit: “TLILIC3013A Preparation to transport dangerous goods by road”. The working group has further defined the skills and knowledge requirements to assess competency in line with the mandated assessment instrument within all States and Territories. The outcomes of this meeting will be reported in the ‘project update’ section of the website shortly after the meeting
  • Work has continued on the review of the five Materiel and Deployment Logistics qualifications, which will be placed on the website for comment shortly.
