2015 TLISC Awards for Excellence
I would like to congratulate the winners and finalists in the 2015 TLISC Awards for Excellence. The highly successful awards event was held in Melbourne on Thursday 9 April and was attended by representatives from industry, government and the tertiary education sector. This event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase outstanding examples of people, organisations and providers delivering high quality workforce development outcomes across the Transport & Logistics Industry.
At the Awards event I was able to officially launch the 2015 Environmental Scan. The E-Scan is the flagship annual publication for TLISC and identifies key issues, trends and intelligence that inform where the industry is headed and what the industry needs to do in terms of generating the right mix of jobs and skills for the future. It provides detail in growth projections and key skill needs of the key sectors that comprise transport and logistics – road transport, logistics, rail, aviation, maritime and ports.
This month sees the next phase of our International Project working with four APEC Economies to support the development of occupational skills standards for 5 identified logistics occupations. Amanda Thomas (General Manager, Strategy & Policy) and Paul Walsh (General Manager, Training Packages) will be visiting China, The Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia to facilitate workshops with government and industry representatives in each country. The objective is to enable the development of agreed trans-national standards which will support improved supply chain performance and promote greater skills mobility across the Asia Pacific Region.
