Integrated Ratings and Linespersons

In January 2015 a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) was established and a meeting held in Newcastle to discuss the skills and knowledge required by a shore based lines person and a lines launch person.   The outcome of the meeting was the development of a range of new units of competency and a Certificate II qualification.  In addition to the Linespersons TAG meeting TLISC also conducted Integrated Ratings focus group meetings in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.  The meetings resulted in a comprehensive record of the skills and knowledge required by an Integrated Rating across the industry.

Following the consultations, the Integrated Ratings and Linespersons Steering Committee met on 16 April 2015.  Members reviewed the feedback received during the consultation and as a result supported the proposed qualification and associated units of competency for the Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Linesperson).  The draft units of competency and the qualification have now been placed on the TLISC website (Project update) for comment:  http://tlisc.org.au/integrated-ratings-and-linespersons/

TLISC will continue to align the Integrated Ratings qualifications to the Standards for Training Packages and amend the qualification and units of competency to address the STCW/MO73.  These changes will be placed on the website in the shortly for comment.
