Workshops strengthen ties with RTOs across the country

Earlier this year TLISC embarked on a journey to deliver free professional development workshops to training providers in major cities across Australia.

As we prepare for the final workshop in Darwin on 19 May, all the feedback received to date has been overwhelmingly positive with TLISC, and both public and private RTOs alike, welcoming the opportunity to meet face-to-face and discuss progress and challenges facing the VET sector.

The first of 10 sessions was held in Sydney where interest was so strong TLISC scheduled an additional workshop in order to meet demand. This pattern continued in Melbourne Brisbane and Perth with up to three sessions being held across two days.

Attracting over 200 participants across seven cities, the workshops were designed to meet the needs of RTOs delivering TLISC qualifications across the six sectors. Topics included:

  • Overview of TLISC
  • Update on VET reform
  • Training Package development process
  • Training Package status updates
  • Update on TLISC’s RTO resources
  • How to engage with TLISC

RTOs form a large part of TLISC’s stakeholder base. Through our RTO and TAFE Advisory Group, TLISC seeks: input and advice on Training Package implementation; feedback on resources to support Training Package implementation; and intelligence on issues and opportunities to improve quality of training outcomes.

The workshops also provided TLISC with the opportunity to reinforce the transparent approach used in the development of Training Packages via the use of:

  • Register Your Interest email alerts relating to progress with Training Package projects
  • Providing up-to-date information on the TLISC website
  • Regularly inviting stakeholders (including training providers) to give comment on proposed qualification, unit and skill sets

As we await further advice on VET reform, TLISC remains committed to continuing this form of effective engagement with RTOs to enable high quality outcomes for industry.
