Past newsletters have referenced the Australian Core Skills Framework and its value in providing a consistent reference point for communication about language, literacy and numeracy skills in the workplace. Here are some new resources.
- The Australian Industry Group has developed an employer guide to the framework called “Unlocking workforce potential” which is freely available here. The document includes quotes from different industries – for example p 17-
We are introducing online payslips for the whole workforce. The writers of the instructions for how to access the payslips got advice from literacy teachers on using Plain English so that all workers could understand them. The whole organisation benefits from this.

- 7 new LLN videos have been released for the ‘What Works’ training and professional development video library. These new videos contain more practical LLN tips and good practice examples to help build vocational trainers and assessors capacity to support learners with LLN needs.
There are now a total of 25 ‘What Works’ videos available to view or download for free from the new What Works for LLN website.
Various rail sector job roles are also featured on the TLISC Go Places careers microsite and the Escan snapshot on pages 22 -23 highlight the continued demand for skilled workers.
