Workplace Trainer Focus Group and Workplace Trainer Toolkit
The 2011 Environmental Scan identified a shortage of workplace trainers and assessors across the Transport and Logistics industry. To address this skills shortage, the Skills Council subsequently established a pilot group of individuals drawn from Transport and Logistics small businesses across Sydney (the Workplace Trainer Focus Group).
Participants have undertaken a range of activities and assessments to gain competence in workplace training and assessment, culminating in the attainment of a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. It is hoped that with the new skills obtained, this group of individual will play an important role in ‘upskilling’ other employees within the workplace.
Another important part of this pilot program has been the development of a Workplace Trainer Toolkit of Resources for widespread use in the industry. Members of the Focus Group assisted in the development of the Toolkit, which will be made freely available by the Skills Council to enterprises and RTOs. The Toolkit will facilitate further training and ‘upskilling’ within the industry.
The Toolkit is currently in its production stage and will be made available soon through our website.
