Rail Training Package Update
TLISC held the final Rail Advisory Committee meeting for 2014 on Thursday 9 October. The committee discussed the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) projects completed to date as well as providing direction for CIP activities in 2015.
The committee advised that during 2015 the CIP should on furthering workforce development and technology in the rail sector. The members discussed the ongoing shortage of frontline team leaders who have both technical knowledge as well as leadership capabilities. They also stressed the importance of having workplace mentors and on-going professional development in addition to formal qualifications to build and enhance workplace capability.
The group also discussed the demand for highly capable rail trainer and assessors within the sector, which is experiencing shortfalls of highly skilled and capable workers.
