Aviation Training Package Update

With the end of the year fast approaching, it’s time to reflect on what has been achieved during this year and what can be expected from 2015 for the AVI Aviation Training Package. A range of aviation training projects have commenced and are well underway. Notable project outcomes have included: new aviation safety materials designed to improve and enhance the skills of flight crew members and ground operations personnel; a broader suite of commercial pilot qualifications being finalised; and Defence and Airservices Australia have completed the Air Traffic Control qualification project that commenced in 2013.

Future industry advisory, steering committee and technical advisory group meetings for the first quarter of 2015 include:

3 February 2015 Aviation Safety Skills Steering Committee
February 2015 Aerodrome Operations Technical Advisory Group
February 2015 Ground Operations Steering Committee
February 2015 Aviation Advisory Committee

2015 marks the return of the Australian International Aerospace and Defence Exposition and International Airshow, to be held at Avalon Airport in Victoria from 24 February to 1 March. Australia’s aviation industry will be the front and centre of events during this time, so we intend to catch up with as many of our stakeholders as possible over that week. If you plan on visiting the Airshow, consider dropping in or calling us through the week to get the latest information on developments to the AVI Aviation Training Package.

If you wish to provide project or training package feedback or to find out how you can become involved with TLISC’s work, please contact Dan Minton, Senior Training Package Specialist – Aviation on 0459 021 115 or dan.minton@tlisc.org.au

To the aviation stakeholders, contributors and participants who have provided such invaluable support and effort to TLISC’s work during 2014, we thank you all. If you are travelling over the Christmas break, enjoy the hard-earned rest, and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2015.
