TLISC helps Toyota to DRIVE careers

A team from TLISC took part in Toyota’s Career Expo on Sunday 30 November. The career day was planned by Toyota for its employees, giving them an opportunity to gain more knowledge around career paths open to them and to speak to representatives from various industries to explore options for further training and education. The Career Expo is part of the first phase of Toyota’s DRIVE employee support program which is a long-term strategy to assist its people to retrain and reskill prior to the cessation of operations at the Altona manufacturing plant in 2017. DRIVE stands for Dedicated, Ready, Individual, Vocational and Energised.

TLISC operated an exhibitor booth throughout the day and provided interested people with information on the Transport and Logistics sector and the various job roles within each of its sectors. CEO – Robert Adams, General Manager Business Services – David Howlett, General Manager Training Packages – Paul Walsh and Training Package Officer – Olivia Shanahan were all available to talk to interested persons about opportunities within the sector and further training options for job readiness.

TLISC conducted two seminars in the conference centre throughout the day. These sessions were popular with many interested employees attending to gain an insight into occupations and an understanding of the various sectors within the transport and logistics industry. The TLISC Go Places website and the Transport and Logistics village on Comet were also introduced. Go Places provides industry occupation guides, job overviews, career profiles and information on each sector, while T&L village on Comet lists available jobs and industry information for job seekers.
