CEO Update

As 2015 draws to a close I would like express my sincere appreciation to our industry stakeholders for your ongoing support during a year of considerable change to the Australian VET system.

TLISC is nationally and internationally recognised as the trusted and independent developer of leading edge, industry-driven training products for Australia’s Transport and Logistics sectors. We look forward to the opportunity to continue this work in 2016.

The final phase of the Government’s process to select the entities that will operate as Skills Service Organisation’s (SSO) is underway. SSO’s will commence operation from 1st January, 2016. I can report that the TLISC Expression of Interest (EOI) submission to be the SSO for Transport and Logistics has progressed to this stage. Any further developments will be advised to our stakeholders as soon as we are in a position to do so.

This year has had many highlights for TLISC and they include;

  • Following extensive industry engagement all TLISC Training Packages have now been transitioned to the New Standards for Training Packages
  • TLISC Awards for Excellence
  • 2015 Environmental Scan
  • This year has seen increased international engagement by TLISC through a range of strategic engagements and projects. In addition we have continued to develop relationships with organisations involved in the VET sector in our region and have hosted a number of delegations throughout the year.

TLISC has been responsible for the development of Industry’s Training Packages for over a decade and boasts world-class, in-house capability and capacity in technical writing, quality assurance, project management and industry engagement.

Between 2009 and 2013 strong demand for TLISC developed Training Packages resulted in student enrolments increasing by 75% across Australia and qualification completion rates nearly doubling. This outcome is against the trend for most other industries.

In 2016 TLISC will continue to support the Transport and Logistics industry to maintain and grow a highly skilled and productive workforce through establishing skills standards, developing industry intelligence and providing strategic advice about workforce development.

I would like extend my best wishes for a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year.
