OFFSHORE FAMILIARISATION SKILL SETS

Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council › Offshore Familiarisation Skill Sets

The Transport & Logistics ISC has commenced the development of two skill sets for Offshore Familiarisation. It is expected that the skill sets will be completed by March/April 2014 and included in the MAR Training Package.

Project Overview
The proposed skill sets include:
  1. Cargo Handling – this skill set will cover the skills and knowledge related to cargo and other deck operations for the safe operation of offshore supply vessels including, Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) and Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS).
  2. Anchor Handling and Cargo Operations – this skill set will cover the skills and knowledge required for safe anchor handling operations for offshore installations from Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels and includes AHTS deck operations.

Both skill sets will be targeted at individuals who either hold a current Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Integrated Ratings) or higher deck or engineer officer qualification and or equivalent.

MAR V2.0 Case for Endorsement. The MAR Maritime Training Package Version 2.0 was submitted to the Department of Industry on 25 November 2014 for consideration. MAR V2.0 includes the Offshore Familiarisation units and Skill Sets.

11 March 2014

The units of competency and skill sets for Cargo Handling and Anchor Handling and Cargo Operations are now undergoing the required QA before being distributed to STAs as part of the final stages. Further updates will be provided when the final units and skill sets are submitted for consideration and endorsement.

The final draft units of competency and skill sets for Cargo Handling and Anchor Handling and Cargo Operations are now available for comment and can be found here: (Links removed 21 February 2014).
