Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council › Rail Safety Investigation

TLISC has commenced the development of a qualification for Rail Safety Investigation project. It is expected that the qualification will be completed by July 2015 and submitted for endorsement in late 2015, before being incorporated in the TLI Training Package.

Project Overview

The proposed Rail Safety Investigation qualification will address the specific training requirements of rail safety workers who are required to investigate rail safety incidents.The qualification will be essential in improving the skill level of those working in the rail industry while providing a level of flexibility that addresses the needs of businesses and individuals.If you have any questions or inquiries about this project or would like to be involved in the consultation process, please contact Ron Horne at ron.horne@tlisc.org.au.

The TLI Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 was endorsed on 12 October 2015.
This Release includes the following qualification along with aligned units of competency:

  • TLI40115 Rail Safety Investigation

The TLI Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 was submitted to the Department of Education and Training on 31st August 2015.This Release includes 1 Rail Safety Investigation qualifications and associated units of competency.

Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 – Draft Components are now available for viewing prior to being submitted to the Dept. Education and Training for endorsement.This Release includes 26 Rail Sector qualifications, 53 Skill Sets and 439 units of competency.

On 18 June 2015 the Rail Safety Investigation Steering Committee met via teleconference to consult on proposed qualification and associated units of competency for Rail Safety Investigation. Draft Rail Safety Investigation qualification will be available for comment on the link below.

A project steering committee has been established to oversee the development of the Rail Safety Investigation qualification and/or Skill Sets. The first meeting of the Rail Safety Investigation Steering Committee is scheduled for 6 May 2015.
