RAIL TRACK PROTECTION

TLISC has commenced the alignment of the TLI10 Rail Track Protection units of competency, Skill Sets and qualifications to the Standard for Training Package.

The TLI Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 was endorsed on 12 October 2015.

This Release includes the following qualifications along with aligned Skill Sets and units of competency:

  • TLI32715 Certificate III in Track Protection
  • TLI21915 Certificate II in Track Protection

The TLI Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 was submitted to the Department of Education and Training on 31st August 2015.This Release includes 2 Rail Track Protection qualifications and associated units of competency.

Transport & Logistics Training Package Release 1.0 – Draft Components are now available for viewing prior to being submitted to the Dept. Education and Training for endorsement.

This Release includes 26 Rail Sector qualifications, 53 Skill Sets and 439 units of competency.

Draft TLI rail qualifications, Skill Sets and associated units of competency are now available for viewing and comment. Qualifications and units of competency have been updated to meet the Standards for Training Packages, better aligned with industry requirements and incorporate many of the suggested changes that were gathered during national consultation. Draft rail qualification, Skill Sets and associated units of competency will be available for comment on the TLISC website until TLI V01 Training Package is endorsed. On the 13 & 14 April 2015 the Rail Track Protection Technical Advisory Group met in Melbourne to discuss the unit of competency TLIW2001 Operate under track protection rules to remove an identified rail workplace barrier in this unit.The TAG meeting recommended a minor application wording change in the draft unit of competency TLIW2001 and to move the unit from the core to the general electives in the draft qualification TLI21315 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure and the entry requirements for draft qualification TLI31915 Certificate III in Mechanical Rail Signalling.

On 13 February 2015 the Rail Track Protection Steering Committee met to consult on the transition process of the 2 qualifications, 46 Skill Sets and associated units of competency. There was discussion about the ‘Local Track Protection’ terminology in TLIW2001 Operate under track protection rules unit of competency to assist with track protection knowledge for rail safety workers. The meeting agreed to form a TAG and review the unit of competency.Draft units of competency and qualifications will be available for comment on the TLISC website until 10th of April 2015.
