AVIATION

HomeSectors › Aviation

The aviation sector underpins Australian business and tourism and employs nearly 50,000 people directly and another 500,000 indirectly. It has five main components: domestic commercial aviation, international commercial aviation, general aviation, air-freight transport and aviation support infrastructure.

Growth depends heavily on an adequate supply of skilled people. Aviation is a global industry, which means that the workforce is highly mobile. The global aviation industry will need to train and employ almost half a million new pilots over the next 20 years, according to the US aircraft manufacturer Boeing.
