The maritime training package review continues on a number of fronts and I remain grateful for the interest being shown and the comments received. Without Stakeholder input the Training Package will not be reflective of the industry and will not add value.

Just a reminder to visit the ‘New Units and Qualifications for Comment’ section of our TLISC website. Currently available for comment are the GPH, Limited Coxswain and Coxswain qualifications. We will shortly be posting the structures for Master 5, Master 4, Master 3, Deck Watchkeeper and Master < 500gt.

The review is progressing in all sectors with additional resources allocated to the Engineer Watchkeeper qualification. This will allow us to develop the model to be used for other engineer qualifications.

During the review, unit naming will be simplified, terminology will be in line with STCW and the USL Code and additional guidance material will be developed to clarify entry procedures and progression through a career pathway.
